Update on Giveaway Stats

I just thought some of you might be interested in hearing some real time stats for the first giveaway event I joined. I did not pay to upgrade and since I had a very small list of subscribers to promote to for sign up, I ended up being 163 out of 288 for gift spot which put me on the last half of the download pages. I was told because of that I would not get as many signups. The giveaway launched on the 15th(yesterday).

Yesterday I got 41 signups and today so far I have 16 at 2pm in the afternoon. There are still 12 days left to the giveaway I believe so I may end up with a couple hundred signups. Now that may not be much to some people but if I take each list and enter into each new giveaway I can get accepted for, then in a year or so I will have a big enough list to start making steady income from(providing I still offer promotions that will benefit my subscribers and not just random crap to try for a sale).

Now if I had upgraded or had more subscribers to promote to, I would have been on the first few pages of downloads and maybe have gotten more signups. I also believe that it has to do with what you are offering. Just because it is free doesn’t mean people are going to take it. It is only appealing if someone can benefit from it.

Since this is a giveaway event, you need to take into account that there will be a good percentage of people unsubscribing from your list after they have received their gift. The key is to try to keep the ones you can. I don’t like to hard sell or pester people, so I only email once a week with the occaissional broadcast in between when something comes up(like the giveaways). Some people, especially the hard hitting iternet marketers, send 3 or more emails a week. When I get those guys, I am soon off their list too.

I guess I will have to see how many of my signups stick around and buy something in the future though. So far, I have only had 2 of those unsubscribe. That is a good ratio wouldn’t you say?
