Affiliate Marketing in a Nutshell
What exactly is affiliate marketing? Affiliate marketing is the single fastest growth industry on the Internet. It’s also true that affiliate marketing is one of the fastest and most creative ways to make money and have a career on the Internet.
Simply put, affiliate marketing is selling products on a commission basis. You own a business that advertises and sells products for other companies. You may have a product of your own to begin with or not. The things that a successful affiliate marketer must have are:
1. Your website is the jumping off point of all your marketing efforts. So the first step in any successful affiliate marketing business is building a good, credible and professional looking website. You must build a user-friendly website, which will attract your prospects and motivate them to click on the links to the products and services you are promoting and make a purchase. There are companies whose business is building websites that you can hire to build one for you.
2. You must find products to sell, you must be able to determine whether there is a demand for those products and if people will actually buy them. You may either have your own original product or products that are made by others. Which ever way you go, you must believe in the products.
3. It will be necessary for you to become an adept advertiser and be able to tell whether the advertising you are paying for is producing more income for you than the advertising is costing you.
4. It is necessary that you have good mathematical skills. You will need to be able to track your sales and determine profit, as well as, see to it that your suppliers are paid in full and on time.
5. You need the full and unwavering support of your family so that you can devote the time and energy necessary to launch your affiliate marketing business.
Tracking Social Media Stats
I was doing some work for a client of mine today when I came across this cool new counter that a guy named Gary Haye’s developed. I thought it was the coolest thing. I had no idea that these were the stats happening on the social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. I just thought I would share it with you, not for any great educational reasoning, just because I thought you too would find it interesting.
We are only now beginning to understand the importance of using social media sites in our marketing efforts. Since no one likes to be outright sold to, chatting, and mentioning products that can help and have helped other people are quickly becoming the easiest and most enjoyable way to get visitors to our sites, or make affiliate commissions.
How to Create a Podcast
Podcasting is easy to get involved in for anyone who
wants to create a podcast. The first thing necessary is
access to a web server. The user needs to be able to
upload files to the server itself, so podcasting can’t be
done from a simple blogging or journal site. It’s
probably best to register a domain and find a host for
the site. Once the site has been set up and the user has
access to the host server, a small program called
dircaster.php should be customized for your site, and
can be used to automatically generate the RSS feed that
the subscribers will download. The mp3 files should be
uploaded to the proper directory after all the
information about the file has been attached. After they
are in the directory, the address of dircaster.php, as long
as it is in the same directory as the mp3 files, will
generate an RSS file that will tell your subscribers
where to download the latest podcasts from. To update
and and a new episode, create and upload the new mp3
file to the same directory. When dircaster.php is
accessed, it will recognize the new file and relay the
information on to your visitors.
With these steps, it is easy for anyone to create a
podcast with a small expenditure of time and effort. The
site is easy to set up; domains and hosting are now
cheap enough almost anyone to have a small site, and
the programs necessary are all easy to find and use.
Advertising for Free
Advertising for free seems like an impossible thing when heard. But there are several ways by which the cost of advertisement can be conserved, with the help of some imagination and creativity.
A business wanting to advertise, can write articles related to their field of expertise that can be submitted to media and publications having interest in that particular field. The advertising article can have information about the company and dealership opportunity. Due to the rise in Internet users and websites, new websites have sprung up which offer free services. Articles can be written for these websites and they can be broadcasted for free, which will be viewed by hundreds of people everyday.
Once the business has gained some recognition, within no time it will gain popularity also among the crowds. This popularity can lead to them being invited on radio and television talk shows and even to interviews. Such kind of opportunities shouldn’t be missed as they provide a chance for free promotion. If it is taking a long time to get a break, the producer can be addressed with a letter that can be followed up by a telephone call or in-person visit. During the visit, the nature of expertise can be discussed about the business, which will be of interest to the viewers of the particular channel. Once a businessperson gains the status of being public-friendly, more offers start pouring in.
Free bulletin board located in the neighborhood, like in grocery stores, libraries, and salons, are another good idea. Advertising circulars can be posted on such boards for free. Circulars for mass distribution can be handed out at the mall, shopping center, bus stops, particularly on weekends when there is a big rush. Students can be hired on part time basis for this purpose.
Promotional advertisement can be printed on the envelopes used by the business firms. Both the sender and the receiver can view this advertisement. Promotional offers can be sent to customers by postcards, which should be utilized to its full, leaving only place left for writing the address.
Some of the new mail order publications offer free first time and seasonal deductions for advertisers. Other publications offer pay per inquiry space. Inquiries can be made about stand-by space, which means that the publication holds the submission of advertisement until the space is not sold and in that case, thirty three percent saving can be achieved. Usually local newspapers provide these kinds of offers.
If the business is involved in ad sheet or catalog publishing, other publishers can be contacted for the purpose of bartering an advertising exchange. They can place advertisement in their publication, in return for placing their advertisement in the business’s publication.
Free offers can be provided to the customer. This can be done by emailing or printing newsletter about information regarding the area of interest of the targeted customers and can be made popular by using tag lines. Attach a free coupon with it, which the customers can use it for shopping, if a criterion is met like minimum purchase of $ 50. By this the response will be huge and most of them will purchase something or the other to avail the free offer. The basic ingredient for advertising for free is imagination and research. Opportunities should be searched and a strong working force should be applied to increase the sales.
Finding Your PR Ranking
I have been focusing my business on ghostwriting and paid blogging this last little while. For one of the new blog review sites I joined, I needed to submit my PR ranking so they could see if I get enough visitors to make it worth their while paying me to post.
I had no idea what my rank was or where to even find out. I did some research as I do for almost everything these days, and found a cool site that allows you to put an html widget on your site that will auto-populate that info for you so you can let your visitors know.
It is free and easy to install in a widget of your wp site. Here is the link for you to go and get your own.
Once you know what your ranking is, you can explore all of your options to building up those backlinks and raising your ranking. It may take time but it will come. I have not done as much as I could for this site, so I know I need to get working to raise my ranking.
Good luck to you! Hope you do well.

Website Flipping for Profit
One of the most popular shows on tv these days is called “Flip that House”. In these episodes, different people from all cities around the America buy run down houses for cheap and invest $10-$100k into them to make them like new and sell them for a profit.
Online you can invest in simple websites and add more content, affiliate links, and sometimes products to make them gaining more traffic and turning a profit. It often helps those who do not like to do any keyword research or trying to figure out what niche is in demand.
You can get your hands on cheap plr articles or ebooks and rewrite them for content. You can join a membership site and find some related ebooks or software you could sell. When you have enough traffic coming in, and have decided what you are adding to it to increase the value, you then sell it and turn a profit.
A lot of people are more than willing to buy a complete website with product included that all they have to do is continue to market for sales. There is a huge market for this type of business just like in the offline world.
One of the best parts of this business is IT’S FUN!!! I love building new websites and selling them. Although I do it from the beginning end. I do the research for keywords, find the templates, set up the website, add the original content(usually about 5-10 pages), and maybe some adsense or other monetization to it.
I then take it to places where you can buy and sell websites fast such as http://www.buysellwebsite.com/, list it for say $150(cost you about $20 to set up and get ready plus a few weeks of time for building some traffic). Some may not think this is a good deal, but if you can create the website in a day, and then just drive some traffic to it by article marketing, forum and yahoo group postings, maybe a hubpage or squidoo lens, this is not bad. $150 for a days work is fine with me.
If you think you would be interested in this type of thing, you should check out forum sites such as http://www.searchengineforums.com/. In this forum, there are many helpful discussions about website flipping, tips to get started and selling profitable sites without wasting your time.
Choosing the Right E-Commerce Solution
I have been debating a few things in regards to ecommerce these days. I have set up and used several ecommerce software solutions over the last few years.
Recently, I have been setting up an affiliate program for my products. As with many products out there, individual sales pages are created. In these pages, a long sales pitch is detailed with benefits, and a call to action for the reader.
When you use an ecommerce store though, you have a bunch of products within the same area. Although you do have a sales page section it is meant more for a description before the cash out button.
With online stores becoming more of an attraction for business owners, buyers are liking the shorter form of sales page found in the ecommerce shop setup. As long as you still detail the benefits, and describe how the product will help the customer, that is really all you need to sell an item. Do you see Walmart throwing up long 3 page sales pitches for all 500k products they have? Wow that would be time consuming. Instead, they practice the art of making their product as enticing as possible to the customers with as little wording as possible.
So, although I have created a long salespage for a couple of my products to do some conversion testing, I am still an ecommerce lover who would rather run a store.
How do you decide what store to choose? Are you a techie? If not, installing one of the ecommerce choices included in your hosting control panel, is probably the best way to go. Then all you need to do is click a few buttons to install, and spend some time adding products, and a logo to make your own designer storefront.
As you learn more, you can do more. If you are still scared of anything technical, there are always sites such as Freewebs.com that allow you to setup a shopping cart on your site by just clicking on a widget. I often encourage new beginners to start with this type of site because you can start for free. Then as you get more familiar with the way things work, you can upgrade to more product availability.
If you are interested in starting up an online business, you could visit my store, grab a copy of my free report on dropshipping and resell rights products. These 2 guides will give you resources for getting products free to start building your online store.
Then when you are ready to proceed, you can check out my tutorials for either setting up a site using freewebs(found in my tutorial on setting up a free store) or Cube Cart(detailed in my book “Setting Up and Running an Online Store”)

It’s Time for Another Giveaway Event!
I know, I know…It seems like I just like to post about giveaway events based on all of my posts.
The thing is, if you set things up properly and were on a good update/notice list of all the big events, you could be gaining subscribers every month with a new event.
Imagine growing your list from 200-2000 or more, in a year just by submitting your gifts, posting some promotional links, blasting out an email to your list or a safelist, twittering on your twitter profile, throwing up a splash page for the traffic exchanges, or chatting on any forums. You can reach tons of people, and really see your list grow.
One thing I found over time though, is you really do need to build up a strong relationship with your list. Treat them like friends more than wanna be customers. If you offer solid information and advice with little pushy sales, you will soon see your sales/commissions will increase. Be patient. Sometimes it can be discouraging when you blast out an email to your whole list and only 2% of the people even open or pay attention to your email. But as you grow, so will your response rate.
Anyways, on with the show! The latest giveaway event, once again offers new and exciting ebooks and software. You need to join me and see what goodies you can find. These events are great for getting PLR content you can use to create your own products, post on your blog, create new articles to submit for directories, or any use you can find for marketing your business.
